The goal of local AVIOS chapters is to create opportunity for people with interest in speech technology to meet, network, and stay abreast of new developments in the area, by holding monthly or bi-monthly meetings.

There will be two speech-savvy speakers, along with snacks, drinks, and time for networking.

Speakers:
John Geise is a Global Practice Leader in Avaya's Advanced Technology and Consulting organization, managing the team responsible for supporting the Mobility and Unified Communications portfolio. He will be speaking about advancing speech to increase access and control, leveraging the "enterprise user" as the starting point. He will discuss legal compliance issues for voice files. He will also discuss speech in the context of "Minimal Attention User Interfaces." Can speech technologies reduce some of the risks now encountered by text-based interfaces in automobiles?

Terry Griffin is a Regional Account Manager for Nuance, with over 20 years experience in the Telecommunications industry. Her team provides sales support for Nuance's Speech Attendant Portfolio. At Avaya she led the messaging and unified communications sales specialists and helped launch Avaya's Unified Communication Center/Speech Access portfolio. She will be talking about speech enabling employee directories, with the goal of enabling employee-to-employee dialers, auto attendants, automated password reset, and emergency broadcast notifications.
